PSYCHOPHONY is a Colombian Death Metal band founded in Bogotá in 2017 and led by Salomón Mosquera. The band combines aggressive and technical Death Metal with dark melodic passages and a conceptual approach rooted in gothic horror. Its music unfolds within a universe suspended between dreams, reality, and the unknown, where supernatural phenomena, creatures, and hidden dimensions emerge.

Psychophony emerged from the desire to develop a Death Metal proposal that combined an aggressive and technically driven musical approach with a strong narrative and visual identity.The first lineup was formed by Salomón Mosquera on guitar, Luis Acevedo on drums, Alejandro Pérez on bass, and Daniel Barrero on guitar. Acevedo, Pérez, and Barrero had previously been members of Sudden Death, a Bogotá-based Death Metal band known for its violent and technical approach. Following the dissolution of Sudden Death, Mosquera recruited the three musicians to begin developing Psychophony.From the beginning, Salomón Mosquera and Daniel Barrero established a close creative partnership that became one of the foundations of Psychophony's musical identity. Mosquera has been responsible for writing the band's lyrics since the project's inception, working closely with Alejandro Pérez throughout the creative process. Their years of shared musical growth, continuous learning, experimentation, and playing together allowed their ideas, melodies, arrangements, and individual approaches to converge naturally, establishing a strong musical language that shaped the band's early material. Luis Acevedo also played an important role in the band's formative period, contributing to the development and composition of its early material.During its first years, Psychophony focused on establishing its own musical identity while developing the conceptual foundations that would later become Nightmare. Horror, occultism, science fiction, gothic imagery, and the darker aspects of human consciousness gradually became central elements of the band's artistic direction.The following stage marked the consolidation of Psychophony's conceptual identity. The band developed Nightmare as a fictional realm suspended between dreams, reality, and another dimension of consciousness. Within this universe, the boundaries between the real and the unknown, hunter and prey, human and monster, and life and death become increasingly blurred.In 2021, Daniel Barrero left Psychophony. His contribution remained an important part of Psychophony's early history, particularly through his involvement in the band's first compositions and the development of material that would eventually become part of its debut release. Alejandro Herrán later joined the band as guitarist, becoming part of the live and instrumental lineup.In 2023, Johana Sevillano joined the band as vocalist. Her arrival contributed to the development of the vocal and compositional direction of the material that would become Psychophony's debut EP, Act I — The Origin of Nightmare. Released in 2023, the EP introduced the first five chapters of the Nightmare mythology, establishing the conceptual and visual language that would define the band's subsequent work.In 2024, Johana Sevillano left Psychophony to focus on her main project, Ataque de Pánico. Following her departure, Salomón Mosquera assumed both guitar and vocal duties, establishing the band's current four-piece lineup alongside Alejandro Pérez on bass, Alejandro Herrán on guitar, and Luis Acevedo on drums.Daniel Barrero, an important figure in Psychophony's formative years and a co-composer of The Origin of Nightmare, passed away in 2025. His death marked a profound moment for the band and its members.Following his passing, Psychophony went through a period of limited public activity. Rather than disappearing, the band remained focused on its work in the recording studio, using this time to continue developing new material and reassessing its artistic direction.Today, Psychophony returns to the scene with renewed strength and determination and is currently developing Act II — A Night Full of Terror, expanding the Nightmare universe into a darker exploration of paranormal phenomena, altered perception, and encounters with forces that challenge the boundaries of reality. The release is currently expected in 2027.With its history behind it and a new chapter ahead, Psychophony continues to develop the Nightmare universe through its music. WE ARE THE HUNTERS
